Best New TV Show Of The Year

Life is a hard show to explain if you’ve not seen it. It stars Damian Lewis, Sarah Shahi, Brent Sexton, Donal Logue, and Adam Arkin. At its core it is a police drama. Before you stop reading I get we don’t anymore of these. But Life is different. In a nutshell the main character is Charlie Crews (played by Damian Lewis). More than a decade ago he was convicted of murdering a family, wrongfully. Eventually he was found innocent, gets out prison, and awarded tens of millions in damages. That is where the show starts.
This is where it gets interesting, instead of just living out his life in leisure he gets his job back as a Detective so he can find those that did commit the crime. Although each show stands alone as an individual crime, the overarching theme is his search for those that organized the conspiracy against him. And as we are learning it goes much deeper and higher-up then he initially thought.
This alone would not make it that interesting. But Crews takes a very Zen approach to life after spending so much time in jail. He looks at the world in a manner that nobody else on the show understands.
His $10 mason has almost no furniture. His $150,000 car, that got shoot maybe 30 times in one show, he refuses to get fixed. The daughter of the family was accused of killing now lives with him and he frequently explains fruit is cool and asks folks if they have any (makes more sense in the context of the show).
The show is intense, funny, and sexy all at the same time. I would also note that its features the best music score of any show I can think of on network television. Well worth your time.
