April 2012 can not come fast enough.

In a few hours I’ll have all four hours on my DVR. Can’t wait to sit back with a bowl of pop-corn, a huge soda, and get lost in a fantasy world for awhile.

Starz has finally released a trailer for their original series, Spartacus: Vengeance. All I can say is wow. The 10-episode season doesn’t even premiere until January, but if the trailer is any indication, it is going to be epic.

Mr. Beck, a conservative Jeremiah and talk-radio phenomenon, burst into television prominence in 2009 by taking the forsaken 5 p.m. slot on Fox News and turning it into a juggernaut. A conjurer of conspiracies who spotted sedition everywhere he looked, Mr. Beck struck a big chord and ended up on the cover of Time magazine and The New York Times Magazine, and held rallies all over the country that were mobbed with acolytes. He achieved unheard-of ratings, swamped the competition and at times seemed to threaten the dominion of Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity at Fox.

But a funny thing happened on the way from the revolution. Since last August, when he summoned more than 100,000 followers to the Washington mall for the “Restoring Honor” rally, Mr. Beck has lost over a third of his audience on Fox—a greater percentage drop than other hosts at Fox. True, he fell from the great heights of the health care debate in January 2010, but there has been worrisome erosion—more than one million viewers—especially in the younger demographic.

He still has numbers that just about any cable news host would envy and, with about two million viewers a night, outdraws all his competition combined. But the erosion is significant enough that Fox News officials are willing to say—anonymously, of course; they don’t want to be identified as criticizing the talent—that they are looking at the end of his contract in December and contemplating life without Mr. Beck [....]

Pure evil. This frightening Hell Spawn of Kathie Lee and Betty Crocker seems on a mission to kill her fans, one meal at a time. She Must Be Stopped. Her death-dealing can-opening ways will cut a swath of destruction through the world if not contained. I would likely be arrested if I suggested on television that any children watching should promptly go to a wooded area with a gun and harm themselves. What’s the difference between that and Sandra suggesting we fill our mouths with Ritz Crackers, jam a can of Cheez Wiz in after and press hard? None that I can see. This is simply irresponsible programming. Its only possible use might be as a psychological warfare strategy against the resurgent Taliban–or dangerous insurgent groups. A large-racked blonde repeatedly urging Afghans and angry Iraqis to stuff themselves with fatty, processed American foods might be just the weapon we need to win the war on terror.

Now clearly Bourdain can be really, really blunt. But doesn’t mean it isn’t right.

The Ricky Gervais podcast turned HBO animated series new season starts on January 11th. I just can’t wait. Some of the funniest stuff on TV.

Take an alien invasion of earth and add Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg and I think you might have a pretty good show that starts airing on TNT early this summer.
