Walmart’s first response to the garment factory fire that killed more than 100 workers in Bangladesh was to deny that any Walmart clothes were made in the factory. Then clothes from Walmart’s Faded Glory brand were found in the factory, so Walmart switched to claiming that it had stopped doing business with that company but a rogue supplier had subcontracted to the factory, so really, Walmart had nothing to do with it. But it turns out it wasn’t one rogue supplier subcontracting to a factory Walmart had stopped doing business with. Five different Walmart suppliers were doing business with the Tazreen factory, accounting for five of its 14 production lines in September, documents show.

Just keep the above in mind as you read news reports about Walmart workers across the United States asking for better wages and benefits. IMHO if Walmart could get away with paying US-based workers $1/hour they would. They don’t care about the employees of their suppliers nor their employees here. It is as simple as that, their actions speak for themselves.

McCAIN: I would allow people to have those opinions and respect those opinions and I’m proud of my pro-life position and record, but if someone disagrees with me, I respect your views.

Wow, what insight. I never would have thought that might be an idea that helped them garner more votes from well women, college educated people, young folks, you know people that make up well more than 50% of the country.

Just over a month from now, Doctor Who fans will snuggle up together on Christmas Day to open presents watch a new Doctor Who holiday special. The 2012 Christmas Special will include the return of Doctor compatriots Vastra, Jenny and Strax, as well as the official introduction of new companion Clara, all wrapped-in a holiday-themed story full of bah humbug and seasonal cheer.
